Wayne Lack
Wayne has taken over the position of Manager of Tackleworld Hervey Bay. Wayne is a member of a well known 4th generation local fishing family, with his grandfather, Jacob Lack, being a pioneer of tourism in the early history of Hervey Bay. As a youngster Wayne was a keen angler and could always be found fishing the Urangan Pier on weekends and school holidays, if he wasn't out fishing the local reefs with his father. A career in the finance industry has taken Wayne to many locations throughout Queensland, however his love of the lifestyle and great fishing in Hervey Bay has always been a great reason to return to our beautiful city. Wayne admits the fishing is not what it used to be 40 years ago, as increased boating traffic and improvements in electronic technology have taken their toll. Wayne maintains these days it's a matter of fishing smarter, not harder to catch a feed. The opportunity to manage Hervey Bay's premier fishing tackle store has added a new chapter to Wayne's life and he is only too pleased to share his knowledge of the local area with our customers.
Chris Jabs
Chris spent most of his life in Hervey Bay living in Craignish, very close to the estuary waters of Oregans Creek. Most afternoons were spent chasing flathead, estuary cod and mangrove jacks in the upper reaches of the creek. During his late teenage years he volunteered as a boat crew member for VMR Hervey Bay. He gained his TL3 Basic Boat Handling Certificate as well as the TL4 Rescue Boat Handling certificate, First Aid and RROCP Radio Telephony Certificate. Unfortunately he had to give this up due to a stint at university studying 2 years of a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Marine Biology.
Chris also has a very keen interest in the Marine Electronics side of fishing. He loves delving deep into the manuals understanding exactly how fishfinders, gps and radar work, and he is more than willing to pass this information on to anyone who needs it! Being a father of 3 boys who are starting to learn the art of fishing, gives him plenty of opportunity to pass on his knowledge. Chris has worked for Tackleworld Hervey Bay now for over 4 years, the friendly atmosphere makes it a perfect working environment.
Jason Edmonds
Jason came aboard with Tackleworld mid 2008 after a 5 year stint in another local tackle store. Originally from the bush, Jason has been a fishing fanatic all his life and has developed a very broad knowledge of fishing techniques and all things piscatorial.
After traveling and fishing around Austalia in the late 90's he settled in Hervey Bay due to its diverse range of fishing options and fantastic climate. A couple of years spent working on local charter boats and offshore commercial vessels, together with every possible spare moment spent on the water chasing fish has developed a great understanding of our local waters and fishing options.
He most enjoys lure fishing for barra and jacks, working soft plastics or livebaiting for reef fish like coral trout, reds, blueys or snapper and tangling with the big impoundment barra of both Monduran and Awoonga.
Jason is our reel servicing specialist, who prides himself on quality workmanship. Come in with all your reel servicing enquiries, Jason will only be too happy to point you in the right direction.
Steve Bell
Steve moved to Hervey Bay at the beginning of 2008, he had previously worked in a well known tackle store in Caboolture, north of Brisbane.
Steve has many years experience fishing and crabbing in the estuaries of Moreton Bay, Pumicestone Passage, the reefs of Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast.
While new to the are, Steve is very keen to pass on any knowledge he has and looks forward to fishing the fantastic Fraser coastline.
Brock Ridgeway
Brock's early fishing experience was at Nelson’s Bay in NSW fishing for kingy’s off the rocks. His family moved to the Bay and now lives on the beach at Craignish. Brock also fishes Oregan’s Creek and Dundowran Beach quite regularly for bream, whiting, flathead, jumping cod and mangrove jacks. Brock is a self confessed mad soft plastics fisherman, you will see him on most days off up a creek somewhere or bobbing around the fairway buoy in his 10 foot tinnie catching anything that takes a soft plastic! Brock has featured in Fishing World Magazine with Rod Harrison catching golden trevally on plastics. Brock has been part of the Tackleworld crew since 2005.
Josh Power
Josh has lived in Hervey Bay all his life. He grew up on a red claw crayfish farm in Nikenbah in which he spent most of his childhood catching red claw and freshwater perch. Josh has spent a lot of time fishing the Gold Coast Seaway with his grandfather, beach and creek fishing for bream, whiting and dart in the surf. Josh caught his first flathead on plastics at River Heads and was hooked. He chases everything from bream and flathead to snapper and barra on plastics. Josh fishes often with Brock chasing grass sweetlip, cod and trout on the artificial reef , pelagics at the fairway buoy or walks the banks of Hervey Bay with a boxful of soft plastics. He has also camped at Wathumba Creek fishing both in the creek and out wider. He recently started fishing for whiting on poppers seeing first hand the trend growing in this area. Josh started full time at Tackleworld early 2007 and is studying certificate III in retail.
